Founded in 1976 as a gardening club, Peterborough Gardeners Co-operative (affectionately known as The Barn, because of its location in an old tin barn) began serving the gardeners of Peterborough.
The Barn quickly outgrew its humble beginnings and in 1983 found a new home on the IBA site, off Paston Parkway, Peterborough. This move enabled The Barn to expand quickly gaining a reputation for quality plants, but when this site was required for development it was time to move again.
In 1989 The Barn moved to its current site on Gunthorpe Road, Peterborough. Expanding its range of goods and services and with the addition of an aquatic fish department, changed its name to The Barn Garden & Aquatic Centre. Offering great value for money The Barn continued to grow and in 2001 a major expansion of its current site was completed which was followed by the addition of a coffee shop in 2005.
2009 saw the opening of a second garden centre in Oundle. Providing the same great quality of plants and gardening products as our Peterborough centre this picturesque garden centre continues to grow.
